Abstract:

To provide a method for producing toluenediamines, and to provide a simple and economical method for separating the toluenediamines (TDAs) into m-TDA, o-TDA, low-bolining product(s) and high-boiling product(s).

A method for producing m-toluenediamine is provided, comprising (a) the step of hydrogenating dinitrotoluenes in the presence of a catalyst, (b) the step of separating the catalyst and water, or the catalyst, water and a solvent from the products in the step(a) to obtain crude toluenediamines, and (c) the step of distilling the crude toluenediamines in a distillation column having a separatory wall to separate the crude toluenediamines into at least four kinds of product streams P1, P2, P3 and P4.
