Abstract:

To provide a method synthesizing a gem-difluoro compound having the objective gem-difluoro structure from an easily obtainable carbonyl compound in high yield.

This method produces the compound expressed by formula (2) in a selective ratio ≥98% by reacting a compound expressed by formula (1) and a fluorinating agent in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst. The selective ratio is defined as a ratio of the mass of the compound expressed by formula (2) to the total mass of the compound expressed by formula (2) and a compound expressed by formula (3). R1, R2 and R3 are each a monovalent group. Two groups selected from R1, R2 and R3 optionally form a bivalent organic group and the rest is a monovalent group.
