To provide a machine base which requires no labor for additional process for a guide surface of a movable machine part, and a method for manufacturing the machine base from polymer concrete.
The machine base comprises guide surfaces 6 and 7 for slip-bearing a movable machine 2. Here, a base 1 is formed by molding of polymer concrete, and the guide surfaces 6 and 7 are formed of a smooth surface obtained by direct impression of the polymer concrete, without performing post process. In the method for manufacturing a machine base 1 comprising the guide surfaces 6 and 7 for air-bearing the movable machine part 2, the base 1 is formed of polymer concrete by molding in one mold under a pressure, with at least the impression surface for the guide surfaces 6 and 7 formed from a mold part polished to be smooth.
