To reduce the width of a machine for folding pieces of cloth with several conveyance lanes which can treat pieces of cloth of a large area and of varied sizes by itself.

The machine for folding pieces of cloth with several conveyance lanes uses a wide conveying part 10 which has a conveyance lane P for pieces of cloth of larger sizes in the central position of its width and conveyance lanes Q1 and Q2 for pieces of cloth of smaller sizes on both its sides. Pieces of cloth which are carried on the conveyance lanes are folded in the direction of their length predetermined number of times respectively. Then the pieces of cloth folded in the direction of their length are folded once in the direction of their width by first folding devices 23A, 23B and 23C in the width direction near ends of the conveyance lanes of the wide conveying part 10. Then only the piece of cloth of a larger size which is folded once in the direction of its width is further folded in two by a second folding device 24 in the width direction. After that, the pieces of cloth folded in the direction of their width of different sizes are finally folded by a common final folding device 25 in the width direction. In this case, the width W3 of the machine for folding pieces of cloth is reduced by arranging the second folding device 24 in the width direction for only pieces of cloth of larger sizes just below the first folding device 23A in the width direction for pieces of cloth of larger sizes.
