To provide a machine screw capable of suppressing scattering of fine chips.SOLUTION: A machine screw 1 capable of being fixed to a metal substrate in a screwed manner, comprises a resin layer 5 covering at least a tip of a shaft part 4, being a solid at a room temperature, and composed of a thermoplastic material, wherein the thermoplastic material is melt by frictional heat occurring upon screwing the shaft part 4 into the metal substrate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
