PURPOSE: To provide a work mechanism which can execute the automatic change of a cutter to a spindle head in a short time, and yet can change the pitch of a pair of spindles optionally with a simple structure.
CONSTITUTION: A unit plate 13 is freely movably supported on a fixed base 2, a movable spindle head 17 capable of adjusting a pitch with its approach/ separation to and from a fixed spindle head 16 and the same fixed spindle head 16 is provided on this unit plate 13. A main magazine 23 and sub-magazine 29 are provided respectively on the fixed base 2 and unit plate 13, a 1st cutter changing arm 27 is provided between the main magazine 23 and sub-magazine 29, and a 2nd cutter changing arm 31 between the sub-magazine 39 and both spindle heads 16, 17. A cutter T necessary for processing a work is transferred to the sub-magazine 29 with being selected from the main magazine 23 in advance and is subjected to working with its being installed in order to a main spindle 18 therefrom.
