To efficiently utilize an air resource by effectively utilizing the kinetic energy from rotation and movement of a machine tool, and thereby to save on energy.
This machine tool 1 has: a spindle 2; a spindle device 3 which rotatably supports the spindle 2; a table on which a workpiece W is placed; and a moving mechanism for the spindle device 3 or the table 4. The machine tool further includes: pneumatic pressure generating devices (5, 6) for generating pneumatic pressure by air flow; and a buffer tank 9 for storing pneumatic pressure. The pneumatic pressure generating devices (5, 6) generates pneumatic pressure utilizing the kinetic energy due to the rotation of the spindle 2 or the movements (column 11) of the spindle device 3, table 4, and the other reciprocating movement bodies, and supply the air with a predetermined pressure from the buffer tank 9 to a pneumatic device 9a used in the machine tool 1.
