Abstract:
To provide a machine tool which detects breakage of a tool in a manner reducing damage to be caused on the tool and a sensor section.
The machine tool has a breakage detecting device 27 for detecting the breakage of the tools, which is operated in the following manner. A linear actuator 36 is driven and controlled to move the contact sensor section 32 to a predetermined location corresponding to the tool 8 targeted for breakage detection, and a detecting needle 38 rotated by rotation of a needle rotating motor 37 is brought into contact with the tool 8 sideways, to thereby detect the breakage of the tool.
