In the machine tool, a tool rest 20 and a table holder 40 are relatively moved on a pedestal 10 so that a workpiece held on a table 43 on the table holder 40 can be machined with a tool held on the tool rest 20. The table holder 40 is controlled to rotate on its axis Y-axis perpendicular to a standard plane in the standard plane while the table holder 40 is not moved in relation to both X-axis and Z-axis perpendicular each other on the standard plane. Each machining face is directed outward around the Y axis of the table holder 40, and a plurality of tables 43 constituting part of the outer surface of the table holder 40 are spaced apart in the peripheral direction. The whole mechanism for driving the table holder 40 and the table 43 is constituted in the inside of the table holder 40.
