To provide a machine tool enabling both cutting and rolling of an outer peripheral face of a workpiece and capable of accurately performing the rolling by a simple structure.
The machine tool includes: a spindle 4 supporting the workpiece and rotating; and first and second tool support bodies 5A, 5B installed on both sides of the spindle 4 so as to enable positional change to a direction coming closer to/or separating from the spindle 4. First, by using both cutting tools supported by the first and second tool support bodies 5A, 5B, respectively, cutting is performed from both sides of the workpiece simultaneously. After completion of the cutting, the tools are replaced, and by using a rolling tool 14 supported by the first tool support body 5A and rotatable around an axis parallel with the center O of the spindle 4 and a support member 15 supported by the second tool support body 5B and enabling corotation with the workpiece, the outer peripheral face of the workpiece is rolled. The rolling is performed, while the rolling tool 14 is pressed against the outer peripheral face of the workpiece and the workpiece is supported by the support member 15 resisting to the pressing force of the rolling tool 14.
