PURPOSE: To automatically remove cutting chips and facilitate the operation of a machine by installing a mechanism which can work at least two faces of a work without installing the work on a table, on a gate-shaped vertical type machining center.
CONSTITUTION: A twist drill 22 can shift in three directions of X, Y, and Z, and a work W (W1-W4) is indexed or continuously revolved in the C1 or C2 direction around the first center shaft U1 by a rotary table 36. Further, the rotary table 36 on which the work W is installed can turn in the B1 or B2 direction around the second center shaft U2. For instance, when the first center shaft U1 of the rotary table 36 is vertical, a hole can be worked by the twist drill 22 for the first surface F1 of the work W. Then, the rotary table 36 is kept in the stage turned by 90° in the B1 direction, almost all the chips are dropped. Further, a hole can be worked by the twist drill 22 on the second surface F2 of the work W1.
