PURPOSE: To provide a machining method wherein continuous machining is executed as interference between a work having a curve and a tool is automatically prevented from occurring.
CONSTITUTION: A machining method is provided for effecting machining of a ball end mill 61 using an NC tool machine comprising an orthogonal linear feed shaft of three axes consisting of an X-, an Y-, and a Z-axis; and a rotational feed shaft of at least one of A and B. The machining method comprises a first stage wherein work shape data is stored; a second stage wherein shape data of a conical interference model to intercouple the tool central point of the tip part of the tool and a tool holder 62 for grasping a tool or a main spindle 63 for grasping the tool holder is stored; and a third stage wherein simultaneously with the feed of a tool along a precommanded tool route, it is decided whether or not a work 64 is interfered with a tool from work shape data and conical shape interference shape data, when a discriminating result is no occurrence of interference, machining is continued as it is, and when the discriminating result is occurrence of interference, the rotational feed shaft is rotated to vary a relative posture between the work 64 and the tool so that interference is prevented from occurring and machining is continued.
