Abstract:

PURPOSE: To perform the precision machining of a molded electrode, by attaching a die, having a datum level in orthogonal three directions serving as a positional reference at the time of molding, to an electrode blank forming the molded electrode, and installing a datum clamp face of the reference die, in a holder of an electrode forming machine.

CONSTITUTION: First, an electrode blank 20 in a form corresponding to the requisite electrode form and an L-type reference die 10A or an I-type reference die 10B conformed to this electrode blank are selected, and the reference die 10 is locked with a screw. next, the electrode blank 20 with this reference die 10 is held by a holder for an electrode forming jig 40, and wire-cut electro- discharge machining takes place. According to the above system, complex three- dimensional forms are giveable to a molded electrode so that necessity for compound machining is reducible. In this connection, when electric discharge machining is carried out by the molded electrode, the reference die 10 is usable as it is.
