Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a macromonomer which can readily undergo radical polymerization upon exposure to ultraviolet light or electron beams by reacting a specific compound having an acrylamide group and an epoxy group in the molecule with a polymer having a specific functional group at one end of the molecule. CONSTITUTION:A compound (A) represented by formula I (wherein R1 and R2 each is H or a 1-5C alkyl) is reacted with a polymer (B) having a functional group which is one member selected from among carboxyl, amino, phenolic hydroxyl groups. By this simple process, in which the compound (A) is reacted with the polymer (B) having, at an end of the molecule, a group that reacts not with the acrylamido group but with the epoxy group of the compound (A), a macromonomer can easily be obtained which is represented by formula II (wherein R1 and R2 are as defined above and Z is a polymer consisting of units derived from a radical-polymerizable monomer and having a number- average mol.wt. of 1,000-50,000) and can readily undergo radical polymerization upon exposure to ultraviolet light or electron beams.
