To provide a method for manufacturing a magnesium alloy coil material, by which production of coarse deposits caused by heat treatment can be restrained, to provide a magnesium alloy coil material obtained by using the method, and to provide a magnesium alloy rolled coil material obtained from the coil material.
A coil raw material 3 obtained by winding a long plate material 2 formed of a magnesium (Mg) alloy is prepared, and the coil raw material 3 is charged into an atmospheric heating furnace 20 and heated to a heat treatment temperature. The heated coil raw material 3 is unwound and drawn out of the heating furnace 20, and the heated plate material 2 is cooled by a forced cooling means 30. The cooled plate material 2 is wound up by a winding reel 11. It becomes possible to uniformly heat and rapidly cool a coil material, and to restrain the production and growth of deposits by performing heating in a wound state and performing cooling in an unwound state even when a coil material or a wide or long coil material formed of a magnesium alloy containing an additive element in a high concentration, is produced.
