To provide a magnesium alloy component of less defects on a surface, and excellent mechanical strengths and corrosion resistance while a formed component has a complicated three-dimensional shape, and a method for manufacturing the magnesium alloy component with a relatively small press and at a relatively low temperature.
The magnesium alloy has a composition consisting of, by weight, 1.5-9.5% aluminum, 0.5-1.5% zinc and the balance magnesium. A boss 12 having the width or the outside diameter of ≥ 2 to ≤ 5 times the thickness and the height of ≥ 2 times the plate thickness is formed on a magnesium alloy plate 8 having the equi-axed crystal structure of the mean grain size of ≤ 10 μm and has the mean thickness of ≤ 1mm. The boss 12 has a double-folded structure, and has a passage 14 communicating with the inside of the boss 12 from a back side. Traces 16 of the inflow of the material from a flat plate portion 18 to the boss 12 are present in the section of the boss 12, and the mean grain size at the tip of the boss 12 is larger than that of a side portion 17 and a root portion 15 of the boss 12.
