Abstract:

To provide a magnesium alloy having superior corrosion resistance, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor.

The surface of the magnesium alloy is subjected to shot blasting treatment at a shot angle of ≤30° to remove a solid-soluble element from the surface of the magnesium alloy to improve corrosion resistance. The surface of the magnesium alloy manufactured by this method is formed with a reforming part containing Mg crystal grains, and with non-reforming part that is other than the reforming part and has an Mg phase comprising essentially Mg larger in grain size than the Mg crystal grains constituting the reforming part, and a eutectic phase containing at least one of the solid-soluble element, wherein the value of the solid soluble element/Mg in the reforming part is ≤0.5, when the value of the solid soluble element/Mg in the non-reforming part is 1.
