Abstract:
PURPOSE: Disclosed is a method for melting a magnesium alloy, which does not necessarily have high purity and high quality, and purifying and using this molten metal into casting. CONSTITUTION: In the method for melting the magnesium alloy prior to casting, two or more melting pots are used or a single melting pot which is partially partitioned so as to provide two or more cambers in the pot is used. In the first melting pot of the two or more melting pots or in the first chamber in two or more chambers, the magnesium alloy is melted and this molten metal is kept for more than 30 min in the first melting pot or in the first chamber so that fluxes, oxides, foreign matters having a risk of contaminating the alloy move into the upper part or the lower part of the melting metal. The purified molten magnesium at the intermediate part is transferred into the second melting pot or the second chamber and kept at the molten metal state.
