Title:
MAGNESIUM ALLOY WITH HEAT RESISTANCE AND WEAR RESISTANCE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3865430
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that an Mg-Al-Zn-Mn alloy is not suitable for the purposes, among automobile engine parts, requiring heat resistance because strength is suddenly reduced when temp. is raised to a value as high as ≥393K and that these magnesium alloys, including a heat resistant Mg-RE-Zr alloy, lack wear resistance.
SOLUTION: The magnesium alloy having resistances to heat and wear has a composition consisting of, by weight, >0.1-4% rare earth elements, >0.7-5% silicon, and the balance magnesium with inevitable impurities and further containing, if necessary, at least one element among >0-1% manganese, >0-1% zirconium, and >0-4.0% calcium and further containing, besides the above, at least one element among >0-10% aluminum, >0-5% zinc, and >0-5% silver.
