Title:
MAGNET MATERIAL CONTAINING RARE EARTH ELEMENT AND HAVING SUPERIOR CORROSION RESISTANCE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6338555
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To manufacture a magnet material contg. rare earth elements and having superior corrosion resistance by adding specified percentages of Nd, Dy, B, Co, Al and C to Fe and providing a tetragonal structure to the principal phase of the resulting material.

CONSTITUTION: This magnet material contg. rare earth elements consists of, by atom, 12W17% in total of 11W15% Nd and 0.2W3.0% Dy, 5W8% B, 0.5W13% Co, 0.5W4% Al, ≤1000 ppm C and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities or further contains 0.1W1.0% Ti or Nd. The principal phase of the material has a tetragonal structure. The inevitable impurities include P, S, Cu, Mn and Ni and the amount of O2 is preferably restricted to ≤ about 8000 ppm. When a magnetic field is applied to the magnet material in a pressing state in a direction perpendicular to the pressing direction, the material has superior magnet characteristics such as ≥about 30 M Oe (BH)max and ≥about 13 kOe iHc and also has high corrosion resistance.
