PURPOSE: To prevent the erroneous recording and erroneous reproduction of information and the damage to a card by informing the operator of the necessity of maintenance by a notifying means when the number of errors as a result of collation is integrated and counted and reaches the number necessitating maintenance.

CONSTITUTION: A data collating means 18, in which a read data and a write data obtained by reproducing a recorded data recorded by a storage means 8 by a reproducing means 4 are collated and the result of collation whether the data is a correct recording data or an erroneous one is output, a count means 19 counting the number of the erroneous collation result, and a number storage means 20, in which a certain number is stored previously, are provided. When the count means 19 compares the number of the error of the counted collating result and the number of the storage of the number storage means 20 and the number of errors reaches the number of storage, it is notified. Accordingly, the increase of the quantity of magnetization of a magnetic head 9 after demagnetization, the erroneous recording and erroneous reproduction of information due to the adhesion of dust onto a magnetic head 9 and a pushing roller and the damage of a card can be prevented.
