Abstract:
To provide a magnetic card reader and a magnetic card defect detection method capable of detecting that a magnetic card is defective when a folded or cracked magnetic card or a magnetic card to which a deposit adheres is used by a user.
The magnetic card reader includes conveyance rollers 40a to 40d conveying the magnetic card 30, a magnetic head 10 reading magnetic data from the magnetic card 30, an acceleration sensor 20 provided on the magnetic head 10 and detecting behavior of the magnetic head 10 and a behavior monitoring part 21 determining behavior abnormality of the magnetic head 10 from information of the acceleration sensor 20.
