Abstract:
To provide an alternative medical device, and an alternative method for manufacturing and using the medical device.SOLUTION: A medical device comprises: a housing 120 including at least one inlet for receiving blood stream; a fluid barrier 135 disposed in the housing; an impeller 160 disposed in a first section 121 of the housing; at least one first magnet 140 connected with an impeller shaft 150; a drive shaft 190 disposed in a second section 122 of the housing; and at least one second magnet 142 disposed on the drive shaft in the second section of the housing. Rotation of the second magnet rotates the first magnet. The second magnet, while allowing axial movement of the second magnet along the drive shaft in order to allow the second magnet to be attracted toward the fluid barrier, is rotatably connected with the drive shaft.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
