Abstract:
PURPOSE:To relieve the load of a circuit and a CPU and to increase the recording capacity by stopping the deceleration at a guard band region by a motor and using a clash stopper only made of an elastic body so as to decelerate a head arm. CONSTITUTION:When a magnetic head 14 fitted to a head arm 13 reaches a guard band 12, the head arm 13 is abutted on the clash stopper 15 just after several tracks. In this case, even if the magnetic head 14 is given the guard band 12, no current in the decelerating direction flows to a head arm drive motor 16. Further, a rubber 37 of the clash stopper 15 is fixed to a spring 38 and the spring 38 is subjected to pre-load by a pre-load guide 39, since the magnetic head 14 is given in the guard band 12, since a nearly deceleration force is given to the head arm 13, number of tracks of the guard band 12 is less and the recording capacity is increased.
