PURPOSE: To manufacture a gimbal spring and a supporting plate with the same processing machine and process by composing the gimbal spring and the supporting plate with a plate-shaped member with the same plane shape and different plate thickness.

CONSTITUTION: A carriage 1 is provided with a carriage 2 at the lower part side and a rotary arm 3 at the upper part side and the arm 3 is freely and rotatably supported through a flat plate-shaped connecting spring 9 to the upper part of a carrier. The carriage 1 is reciprocatedly shifted in the radial direction of a magnetic disk 8. At the tip of the carrier 2, a penetrating hole 2a is formed, a supporting plate 6 is fixed to the upper surface of the carrier 2 round the penetrating hole 2a and a magnetic head 4 is fixed to the center of the supporting plate 6. The penetrating hole 3a is formed even at the tip of the arm 3, a gimbal spring 7 is fixed at the lower surface of the arm 3 round the penetrating hole 3a and a magnetic head 5 is fixed to the center of the spring 7. The supporting plate 6 and the spring 7 are composed of a plate-shaped member with the same plane shape and different plate thickness, and can be manufactured with the same processing machine and process.
