PURPOSE: To improve an electromagnetic conversion characteristic by incorporating an abrasive material having ≥7 Mohs hardness and having average particle sizes ranging 0.25W0.75γ (γ=thickness of a magnetic layer on one face) and a fatty ester having ≤10°C m.p. into the magnetic layer.
CONSTITUTION: The abrasive material having ≥7 Mohs hardness has the average particle sizes ranging 0.25W0.75γ when the thickness of the magnetic layer on one face is γ. The amt. of the abrasive material to be used is in a 0.1W30pts. wt. range by 100pts.wt. magnetic powder. The fatty ester having ≤10°C m.p. is used for the lubricating agent to be used in combination with the abrasive material and is used in an amt. of ≥5pts.wt. by 100pts.wt. magnetic powder. The thickness of the magnetic layer is made within a 0.3W2.5μm range. The electromagnetic conversion characteristic is thereby improved.
