To realize miniaturization and reduced cost of a magnetic head and to perform positioning easily and accurately at the time of mounting a magnetic head element.
The magnetic core 1 is provided with a first part for deciding a track width, a second part connected nearly vertically to the first part, a third part that is connected nearly vertically to the second part and that is longer than the first track width, and a fourth part connected nearly vertically to the third part; the magnetic core 1 shows a nearly rectangular ring-shape notched with the first or the fourth parts between these parts. The magnetic core 2 is provided with a fifth part longer than the first track width, a sixth terminal part connected nearly vertically to the fifth part, and a seventh part connected nearly vertically to the sixth part; the magnetic core 2 shows a nearly C-shape with the fifth to the seventh part. The first and the fifth parts are joined through a gap spacer 3 to form a sliding face against a magnetic medium with each outer circumferential face of the first and the fifth parts, while the third and the seventh parts as well as the fourth and the sixth parts are joined in such a manner as to be superposed with each other.
