Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily form projecting parts on the surface of a slider opposed to a disk, particularly, in the periphery of a thin film element without damaging this film element by using a laser.
SOLUTION: The projecting parts 10 (or 11) are easily formed in positions near the thin film element 3 in a protective layer 8 or in the opposite surface 5 in the vicinity of a trailing side end part 2 by an Nb-YAG laser or an Exima laser. Consequently, the thin film element 3 is capable of evading direct contact with the surface of the disk, and hence even when sliding is repeated between this slider and the disk surface, the thin film element 3 is neither damaged nor worn out.
