PURPOSE: To improve the durability by not exposing end faces of a soft magnetic alloy thin film having much work strain and a nonmagnetic thin film to a sliding surface.
CONSTITUTION: The soft magnetic alloy thin films 5 of Co0.8Nb0.2 are provided on gap surfaces of cores 1, 3 and the nonmagnetic thin films 6 consisting of silicon oxide are provided on the thin films 5. One pair of cores 1, 3 is stuck together at the gap surfaces 4 to be sealed with glass 7 and a sliding surface 9 having a specific track width 8 is formed. Besides a wider width of stepped working part 10 than the track width 8 is provided at 20μm lower part from the lower end of the gap surface 4. Parts 11, 12 the glass 7 is joined directly with the cores 1, 3 are provided at a position 20μm apart from the side end surface of the sliding surface 9. Thus since the end faces 13 of the soft magnetic alloy thin film 5 having much work strain and the nonmagnetic thin film 6 are not exposed to the tape sliding surface 9, the durability is enhanced.
