Abstract:
To provide a magnetic head and a manufacturing method thereof and magnetic recording/reproducing device and a manufacturing method thereof that reduce damage to the magnetic head due to contact with a magnetic recording medium.SOLUTION: A magnetic head according to an embodiment has a protective layer. When an element portion is a magnetic recording element portion, the protective layer includes a first region on a magnetic recording element protrusion portion and a second region on a magnetic recording element shield portion, and the first region and the second region are on the same plane or the first region is recessed more than the second region. When the element portion is a magnetic reproduction element portion, the protective layer includes a third region on a magnetic reproduction element protrusion portion and a fourth region on a magnetic reproduction element shield portion, and the third region and the fourth region are on the same plane or the third region is recessed more than the fourth region.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
