PURPOSE: To provide the magnetic head which can suppress the generation of wiggle noises and the magnetic recording and reproducing method.

CONSTITUTION: This magnetic head consists of a slider body consisting of a nonmagnetic material or magnetic material and a core body which is coupled to this slider body and constitutes a magnetic gap. A 1st coil for signal recording and reproducing and a 2nd coil for impressing a bias current are wound around the winding part of such core body, by which the magnetic head is constituted. As a result, the external magnetic field by the bias current is acted by passing the bias current to the 2nd coil provided separately from the 1st coil for recording and reproducing at the time of recording and reproducing, by which the magnetization mechanism of the magnetic head is controlled and the wiggle noises are decreased.
