Abstract:

PURPOSE: To increase the recording and reproducing characteristics, by using the 1st soft magnetic film having the same film thickness as the track width only around the working gap and a large concentration by saturated magnetic flux and forming the magnetic paths at the areas including the energizing part except the magnetic paths with the 2nd soft magnetic film having a large thickness than the 1st soft magnetic film.

CONSTITUTION: A nonmagnetic substrate 10' contains a projection 10'a, and a soft magnetic film 11' is laminated at both sides except the periphery of the working gap forming part of a soft magnetic film 11 to increase the sectional area of the magnetic path except the periphery of the working gap forming part. The films 11' and 11 are formed successively on a nonmagnetic substrate 10 via an interlayer insulated film 12, and then the film 11' of the substrate 10' on which another film 11 is formed is adhered to the film 11' via an adhesive layer 17. After this, the gap bonding is carried out to form a working gap 15 between the films 11. The films 11 and 11' have large concentration of saturated magnetic flux, and at the same time a magnetic path is formed only at the periphery of the gap 15 with the film 11 having a thickness equal to the track width 14. Other magnetic paths are formed with the films 11 and 11' with larger thickness. Thus the energized magnetic flux is concentrated with high efficiency to the magnetic paths near the gap 15. As a result, the recording is possible even with a slight recording current.
