Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make a magnetic head fit to inclination of media face and to prevent occurrence of off-track by supporting the magnetic head by a gimbals spring of three-dimensional structure having a slanted face that narrows toward the media face. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic head 3 is supported by an arm 5 through a gimbals spring 4 of three-dimensional structure, and the arm 5 is attached to a carriage 8 by a supporting spring 6. The rotation shaft of the arm 5 is placed in the extension of the media face. The gimbals spring 4 consists of three spring elements 44 of slanted face facing the media face, and the axial lines are made to intersect at approximately one point. Consequently, the magnetic head 3 makes minute rotation in all directions around the intersection. Accordingly, even when the head is tilted, of-track is not caused if the intersection is near upper face of the head.
