PURPOSE: To improve the recording and reproducing characteristics and the output noise ratio by using single crystalline ferrite having a specified composition and by melting and sticking glass having a smaller shrinking percentage than the ferrite to the surface of the ferrite close to a working gap part.
CONSTITUTION: Two magnetic bodies with high magnetic permeability placed opposite to each other with a working gap in-between are made of single crystalline Mn-Zn ferrite obtd. by solubilizing 0.01W0.75wt% Co2O3 and/or 0.01W 0.1wt% V2O5 in ferrite consisting of 50W66mol% Fe2O3, 15W50mol% MnO and 5W30mol% ZnO, and the {101} plane of the Mn-Zn ferrite is made almost parallel to a surface forming a main magnetic path. The angle θ between the <100> direction present in the {110} plane and a surface forming the working gap is adjusted to 5W40° or 85W120°, and glass having a smaller shrinking percentage than the Mn-Zn ferrite when the temp. is dropped from the sticking temp. to room temp. is melted and stuck to the surfaces of the magnetic bodies close to the sides of the working gap.
