Abstract:
A magnetic induction furnace (1) suitable to heat metal billets (2), solid or tubular, made of non-ferrous material to be subjected to extrusion comprises a heating part (6) in which there is present at least one heating section (25) comprising at least one coaxial annular electric motor (250) having a fixed stator (33) and a permanent magnet rotor (34) mobile in said stator (33), and an annular rotor (40) carrying a plurality of permanent magnets, said annular rotor (40) being coaxial to said stator (33) and rotor (34) of the electric motor (250) and defining a compartment (27) with vertical axis (W) with respect to a plane (P) on which the furnace (1) lies, and suitable to contain at least one billet (2) suitable to be heated, by magnetic induction, through the movement of the annular rotor (40) contained in the rotor (34) of the coaxial motor (250). The billet (2) is completely stationary when inserted into the aforementioned compartment (27) and remains therein in this state during the entire heating operation.
