To enable elimination of an initial position variation of a levitating body caused by friction or the like, and to suppress position variations of the levitating body caused by a steady external force, by using not only substantial zero power control but also using control for converging an absolute position of the levitating body to zero.
A magnetic levitation device includes: a levitating body 10; a magnetic unit 23 that forms a magnetic circuit through a permanent magnet and an electromagnet in the levitating body 10; a movable frame 22 that secures the magnetic unit 23; a fixed frame 21 that supports the movable frame 22; a movable frame supporting mechanism 27 that can support the movable frame 22 to the fixed frame 21 and adjust a distance between the fixed frame 21 and the movable frame 22; a first sensor 24 that measures a relative displacement between the levitating body 10 and the magnetic unit 23; a second sensor 25 that measures a relative displacement between the fixed frame 21 and the movable frame 22; and a controller that stably supports the levitating body 10 in contactless manner by controlling current of a magnet according to each output of the first and second sensors 24, 25.
