PURPOSE: To provide a simple device, which makes the relative motion of two elements, which are moved relatively to each other, stop and holds the two elements without requiring a mechanical brake mechanism.
CONSTITUTION: Grooves with non-magnetic materials 5 buried therein are formed in the surface, which opposes to a magnetic material driven element which is moved relatively to a magnetic material driving element 1, of the magnetic material driving element 1 at the same pitch perpendicularly to the direction 4 of movement. When a current is made to flow through a coil 3 and a magnetic flux 7 is generated, the centers of magnetism in the mutual magnetic material surfaces of the driven element and the element 1 coincide with each other and do not shift in the direction of the materials 5. As a result, both of the driven element and the element 1 are locked without being moved relatively to each other.
