Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic member for a cast product which is ferromagnetic and suitable for casting.
SOLUTION: An electromagnetic retarder 10 comprises an excitation coil 16 fixed to a stator carrier 15, a disk 17 fixed to a power output shaft such as a propeller shaft 13, a retarder drum 18 formed to cover the excitation coil 16, and a brake drum 19 for a parking brake. The disk 17, the retarder drum 18 and the brake drum 19 are integrally cast with each other by using a magnetic member formed of spheroidal graphite cast iron of ferritic base. This magnetic member contains, by weight, 3.2-3.8% C and 2.3-3.6% Si.
