PURPOSE: To provide a magnetic paint which can greatly inhibit the dimerization of a ketone solvent without adversely affecting the magnetic characteristics, by mixing a magnetic powder having a specified compd. deposited on its surface with a binder an an org. solvent contg. a ketone solvent.
CONSTITUTION: At least one compd. selected from among alkaline earth metal compd. (e.g. acidic salt of Ca, Mg, Ba, etc.), inorg silane compd. (e.g. sodium metasilicate) and org. silane compd. (e.g. a compd. of the formula) is deposited on the surface of a magnetic powder (e.g. Fe powder or γ-Fe2O3 powder). The titled magnetic paint is obtd. by mixing the magnetic powder with a binder (e.g. polyester resin or a vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer resin) in an org. solvent contg. a ketone solvent (e.g. cyclohexanone). By using the magnetic powder having the surface coat, dimerization during the storage of the ketone solvent can be greatly inhibited.
