Title:
MAGNETIC POWDER CLUTCH CONTROL DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6184422
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make it possible to effect engine brake even a low speed range with the use of a magnetic powder clutch disposed between a drive source and a stepless speed change gear unit, by controlling a speed at which the above-mentioned clutch is disengaged, in accordance with the judgement on whether it is the time when engine brake is necessary, or not, upon gear shift operation. CONSTITUTION:In such an arrangement that a magnetic powder clutch 2 which couples magnetic powder 8 in a chain-like pattern upon energization of an exciting coil 5 to transmit the torque of a drive member 6 is transmitted to a driven member 7, is disposed between a crank shaft 1 and a stepless speed change gear unit 4, the exciting coil 8 is controlled by means of a clutch control device 9 in accordance with the operating condition, that is, it is controlled to be engaged when a vehicle speed detected by a vehicle speed detector exceeds a predetermined value. Further, when the output of an accelerator depressing condition detector 27 indicates that the accelerator is returned and the detected vehicle speed becomes lower than a predetermined vehicle speed in accordance with the output of a shift position detector 25, the clutch is controlled to be in its half-clutch condition, and when the detected vehicle speed is lower than the predetermined vehicle speed while the accelerator is returned, the clutch is controlled to be in its disengaged condition.
