PURPOSE: To obtain the magnetic printer which can freely change the printing quality (resolving power) according to purposes by freely changing dot diameters.

CONSTITUTION: This magnetic printer has a 1st moving means which moves at least either of a magnetic head 2 or a magnetic material relatively along the direction of the magnetic flux magnetized by the magnetic head 2 and the 2nd moving means which moves the head or the material relatively along the direction having an angle with the direction of the magnetic flux. Further, the printer has a 1st timing varying means which varies the timing to magnetize the magnetic material of the magnetic head 2 with respect to the moving quan tity of the 1st moving means and a 2nd varying means which varies the moving quantity of the 2nd moving means. The 2nd varying means is constituted by a controller 8 for varying the moving speed of the magnetic material and the 1st timing varying means is constituted of a data output timing controller 11 an a variable clock generator 10, thereby freely changing the dot diameter. The printing quality (resolving power) is freely changed according to purposes in this way.
