PURPOSE: To perform an accurate test for a magnetic reading mechanism, by using a magnetic reading test medium in which a magnetic print is applied to an output level correspnding to the features of a medium with the scale and pitch of the dots or lines.

CONSTITUTION: A magnetic printed part 12 having a magnetic print applied in the carrying direction along the bank note guides 13 and 14 is provided lengthwise of a test paper sheet 11 having an equal form to a bank note. The width W of the part 12 is larger than the width of a magnetic head 1, and the trains of lines or dots are printed approximately rectangular to the carrying direction of the sheet 11. The magnetic print is applied with a presribed scale and pitch of the dots and lines over the width W for an output part (a) of a certain frequency of the magnetic properties, an output part (b) of a high level and a part (c) having a violent change of the output level respectively. In such way, the test paper sheet containing the magnetic print applied in accordance with the output level of the note can be used. Thus a magnetic reader can be tested and adjusted in a highly efficient and stable way.
