PURPOSE: To provide a magnetic storage device which enables recording and reproducing of high-density information and has high reliability.
CONSTITUTION: The coercive force in recording tracks and the coercive force of guard band parts are so set as to vary by ≥20% and the direction of the axis of easy magnetization of the recording tracks is inclined by 20 to 70° in a track direction. As a result, high-medium S/N is obtd. at a narrow track width. Namely, the dispersion of the coercive force in the head traveling direction in the recording tracks is lessened and, therefore, medium noise is lowered and ovewrite characteristics are improved. Since the writing blurs to the guard bands are decreased and, therefore, the high track density is attained.
