PURPOSE: To reduce noise that are generated when tracks are switched, by detecting the discontinuous area of the reproducing frequency modulating sound signal on the basis of the signal which controls the switching the tracks reproduced by a rotary head and then holding the immediately preceding level of the reproduced sound signal.
CONSTITUTION: A BPF2 extracts only the FM modulated sound signal out of the reproduced signals supplied through an input terminal 1. This extracted signal is demodulated by an FM demodulator 4 via a limiter 3. While the drop- out period of the reproduced signal is detected by a drop-out detecting circuit 6. A preceding holding circuit 5 holds the output sound signal of the demodulator 4 at the level obtained immediately before the drop-out during a drop-out period on the basis of the output signal of the circuit 6. Furthermore the output sound signal is deemphasized by a deemphasizing circuit 7 to eliminate the drop- out distortion in terms of an acoustic sense. At the same time, the signal that indicates the holding of the preceding value when the reproducing track is switched is impressed to the circuit 5 via a terminal 10. Thus the noises can be reduced when the tracks are switched.
