Abstract:
PURPOSE:To automatically record a plurality of type of input signals such as an NTSC signal, an HD signal and the like on a plurality of types of cassettes by using one apparatus so as to be used conveniently by a method wherein an optimum recording mode is judged by the discrimination result of the kind of an input signal and by a user's desired recording mode command and individual parts are set to a prescribed mode. CONSTITUTION:A cassette-type discrimination means 16 discriminates whether an inserted cassette is for high-definition (HD) use or for standard (NTSC) use. An input- signal type discrimination means 14 discriminates the signal type of an input signal; a recording mode which can be used currently is displayed by using a display means 19. A user selects a desired recording mode out of display modes; a control means switches individual parts at the title apparatus such as a recorded signal processing means 15, a servo control means 8 and the like to a prescribed movie. The servo control means R changes a magnetic tape speed and the number of revolutions of a drum so as to correspond to the type of the signal to be recorded. Thereby, one apparatus can comply with complicated combinations of a plurality of kinds of input signals such as a high-definition signal, a standard signal and the like with a plurality of types of cassettes so as to be used conveniently.
