Title:
MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06176355
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To maintain lubricity under various conditions over a long period of time by forming a carbon film on the surface of a magnetic layer and holding an amine salt of carboxylic acid having a prescribed compsn. as a lubricant on the carbon film.

CONSTITUTION: This magnetic recording medium has a carbon film formed on the surface of the magnetic layer and holds an amine salt of carboxylic acid represented by formula I or II as a lubricant on the carbon film. In the formulae I, II, (n) is 1-3, R is ≤30C hydrocarbon, partially fluorinated hydrocarbon or fluorocarbon, each of R1-R3 is H, ≤30C hydrocarbon, partially fluorinated hydrocarbon or fluorocarbon, each of the hydrocarbon, partially fluorinated hydrocarbon and fluorocarbon has no double bond at a moiety other than terminals and at least one of R1-R3 has ≤10 carbon atoms. This magnetic recording medium can maintain lubricity even under any service conditions and can maintain its lubricity over a long period of time.
