Title:
MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS58100222
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve dispersibility and SN ratio, by coating a base with a dispersion of sulfone-modified polyester resin, acrylic oligomer, magnetic powder, and org. titanium compd., and irradiating it with radiation.

CONSTITUTION: A magnetic coating material is obtained by dissolving 10pts.wt. sulfone-modified polyester resin having sulfonic acid or its metal salt groups in the molecule; 7pts.wt. liq. acrylic oligomer having radiation-polymerizable double bonds; 1pt.wt. palmitic acid; and as a titanium compd. 2pts.wt. titanate coupling agent in 160pts.wt. toluene or ketone, and dispersing 80pts.wt. magnetic iron powder into this soln. A polyester film is coated with this dispersion, and hardened by irradiating it with radiation to form a magnetic recording material, thus permitting this binder resin to retain dipersion of the magnetic powder without being decomposed by radiation, so stability and SN ratio to be improved.
