PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic recording medium which has wear resistance, high S/N and high output for reproduction and is particularly improved in the corrosion resistance of a metallic magnetic material by providing a magnetic layer contg. a compd. having a specific residual tertiary amine group and residual phosphate group together with ferromagnetic powder on a non-magnetic substrate.
CONSTITUTION: The compd. expressed by the formulas I , II [X1 is C1-30(substd.) alkyl, (substd.) aryl or a (substd.) heterocyclic group, where the alkyl, aryl, or heterocyclic group may have the residual phosphoric acid group expressed by the formula III, R1 is C1-5 alkyl, (substd.) aryl, or H, A and A1 are H, alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, -(CH2CH2O)l-H, l is 1W10, or ammonium components, Z is the same as X1 or the group expressed by the formula IV, Q is N or C and is an atomic group forming a satd. 5W6-membered ring together with N, R2 is C1-5 alkyl, n is 0W4, X11 is C1-20 acyl or the same as X1] is incorporated into a magnetic layer by adsorbing the same on magnetic powder and dispersing the powder in a binder. The magnetic recording medium which is improved in the dispersibility and wear resistance of the magnetic powder, more particularly in the corrosion resistance of the metallic magnetic powder is thus obtd.
