Title:
MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS62188017
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the traveling property and electromagnetic transducing characteristic of the titled medium by providing a specified intermediate layer, and decreasing the thickness of a magnetic recording layer.

CONSTITUTION: The magnetic recording layer contg. ferromagnetic alloy powder and having 0.5W1.5μ thickness and the intermediate layer having ≤0.015μ surface roughness in the average Ra value and ≥1×109 dyne/cm2 Young's modulus are formed on a carrier. Alloy powder contg. ≥75wt% metallic component in the powder can be exemplified as the alloy powder used in the recording layer. The Young's modulus of the intermediate layer can be obtained by selecting a binder and inorg. powder and incorporating a resin to be cured by an electron beam or UV rays, and the surface roughness can be obtained by selecting the particle diameter of the inorg. powder, the kind, the amt. of the powder to be used, etc. The recording medium having excellent traveling property and electromagnetic transducing characteristic can be obtained at a low cost by this constitution.
