PURPOSE: To realize short-wavelength recording using a magnetic head inferior in head efficiency by a vertical magnetizing recording system, by irradiating a magnetic recording part with heat rays.
CONSTITUTION: Over and under magnetic recording medium 1 composed of non- magnetic supporter 2 in a tape or sheet shape and a magnetic layer 3 provided on it, main head body 4 and auxiliary head body 5 are arranged and it is made possible to supply magnetic layer 3 with heat rays 7 through auxiliary head body 5 provided with winding 6. Then, while magnetic recording part 8 is irradiated with heat rays 7, a current modulated in accordance with information to be recorded is supplied through winding 6 to provide a magnetic field modulated in accordance the information to be recorded between main head 4 and auxiliary one, and consequence since the coercive force of magnetic recording part 8 lowers due to irradiation with heat rays 7, sufficient magnetization is possible even if the magnetic field is small owing to low head efficiency of both main and auxiliary head bodies 4 and 5.
